Adopting Or Dropping Beliefs

Strong feelings and emotions from your past may have been points at which beliefs were formed or were points where previously formed beliefs may have been either strengthened or changed. For example, if you can remember the anticipation that you may have felt on Christmas eve when you were a child and believing in Santa Claus, then you will sense how you were comforted and excited by a belief in something that actually did not exist. It was all in your mind.. But, to you, the believing child, it was real and wonderful.
As adults we pass on these traditions of belief in the Easter bunny or tooth fairy or Santa Claus, to our children, because we have fond memories of such beliefs. We want our children to experience that warmth and comfort and fun. Now, do you remember when you stopped believing in these childhood fantasies? When you did stop believing, did it make you sad or angry or did you just feel like you were growing up and getting more realistic about life and your own reality?
