Imagination Techniques - Part 1

If, in your imagination, you can simply sit down and close your eyes and visualize yourself living the set of circumstances that is your envisioned end-all-be-all dream of life, it will be a lot easier to create a game plan or the appropriate stepping stones to get there. Without doing this you are creating steps with no real destination in sight.
Creating a Road Map For Your Desires
When you can visualize that ultimate situation, with all or most of the major elements necessary for your happiness, you then have a goal or a target or at least a direction with which to start creating a
map. Often, people will look at, only, their immediate desires.
Some continue to do that throughout a lifetime. They figure out, only what they want at this very moment and they usually do not think that they can have what they ultimately want, immediately. Sometimes, if they would just think about what they ultimately want, they can get it very quickly.
Figuring out what you ultimately want serves many other purposes besides just giving you a direction. It will tell you much about yourself in this current physical lifetime. It will tell you what is important to you. If you can mentally “live in” this imagined set of ultimate circumstances you will see what you do there, to occupy yourself. In other words, it will tell you what it is that actually make you happy within that circumstance.
Imagine Your Desired Situation AS IF already Happened
For an exercise, sit in a quiet place and mentally create a situation in which you have everything that you want. Fill it in with relationships, location in the world, the house you live in and the car
you drive. Look at the social life that you have. What type of people are you spending time with and what the condition of your health is.
What do you do to maintain that health, etc. See if you can figure out if you have some special purpose in regard to what is your “cause” on the planet. Do you have a cause or a profession in this ultimate situation or have you already just made it in life and are now reaping, what you consider to be, the rewards of having done so. Granted this requires using your imagination in new and vivid ways.
Excuse me for using any “Standard American Dream” examples here. Of course, you may not want a house or car or relationship. You may be off on some solo adventure in the rain forest or in the jungle. You may ultimately desire to withdraw from society and live alone in the desert. Your ultimate situation or set of circumstances must be connected to your deepest and truest heart felt passions. I
am merely using generalized examples.
Your ultimate situation may involve no specifics about locations, or any material objects and deal with “knowingness” or “Godliness” or some other imagined ideal. If so, it is still important to create a set of circumstances in your imagination that “matches”, as close as possible, an actual situation that you could see yourself existing inand being happy and fulfilled.
Be Detailed in Your Imagined Ultimate Experience
Would you be in a sleeping bag in the forest or in a tog cabin or a mansion or a motor home. Would you hitchhike from place to place and sleep under the stars perpetually or would you have a car and some kind of roof over your head. Reach for a detailed ultimate situation in your mind and not those preliminary experiences that would “lead” to it. Cut to the chase and get to the bottom line. Be thorough and vivid in these imaginings, like you have probably never been before.
As you try to do this with this exercise, there are signals and signposts that you should take notice of. If you have difficulty visualizing any type of an ultimate situation, it can tell you many things about yourself. There are people who try this exercise and say, “Oh, I don’t want much in life, just my health and some friends and not to be hungry and have some kind of roof over my head”.
Fine, maybe that is your ultimate situation.
Each person has different desires and though there may be general similarities in the overall picture, the specifics will vary. Some may say, “All I want is good health, I don’t want any ultimate situation
other than that”. Fine. Listen to yourself. Your “self” is talking to you. You may even start a conversation with yourself and say, “no, actually I think I might want more than that”. In that case, continue the conversation and see if you can imagine what you ultimately do
want.
Do You Know What You Really Want?
If you have difficulty in figuring out what it is that you do want, you might consider the possibility that you really do not want to know. You may not want to visualize what you want and you may not want
to take any conscious control over your circumstances. You may be a person who loves to be surprised by life. Is that wrong? NO, that is you.
On the other hand, if you hear yourself saying, “No, that’s not it, I really do want to figure out what I want, it is really important to me to do that”. Fine, you are telling your self that you want to know. Now, there are endless possible scenarios and outcomes and signals from this exercise. Be honest with your-self.
If you have difficulty trying to figure out what you want, you might try the old “genie with the three wishes” ploy. It sounds childish, I know, but if you really want to know what you want and you can’t seem to imagine what that would be, then try this alternative. I know this might be boring for the majority of people who are chomping at the bit here to get on with it but this can be useful at identifying different points within an imagined circumstance also, so bear with me.
For all the people who say, my first wish will be to take a million more wishes… go right ahead and take them but I doubt you will really need that many. Take as many as you need. You should realize that you can grant yourself any imagined circumstance that you want instantly. You don’t need a genie or wishes to be able to do that.
You may not think that that is any big deal but it is actually the biggest of all deals, only you may not be aware of that. Anyway, with the wish ploy, the object is that when you hit a stumbling point of not being able to sense, what next, what now, what do I want etc., imagine that you may instantly and immediately HAVE ANYTHING but the only requirement is that first you must visualize that thing or circumstance in your mind.
